At Nawroz University, a seminar was held to discuss "How Symptoms of Depression Manifest."

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 10:30 AM, the Department of Psychology at the College of Languages organized a seminar entitled "How Symptoms of Depression Manifest" for faculty member Asst. Lect. Ali Abdulqader Muhammad.

The lecturer extensively and thoroughly explained the seminar's topic. He highlighted that depression is not merely a temporary psychological state, but rather a complex process that fundamentally begins as a result of chemical imbalances and neurological changes in the brain. This is particularly linked to a decrease in the neurotransmitters responsible for regulating mood and happiness, such as serotonin and dopamine, which directly impacts a person's energy levels and will to live. He further explained that these changes gradually affect the emotional and cognitive aspects of the individual. Consequently, the person experiences a sense of hopelessness and low self-worth, and the activities or hobbies they once enjoyed no longer hold any meaning for them. At the same time, this psychological burden reflects strongly on the physical body as well, manifesting through symptoms such as chronic fatigue, disrupted sleep patterns, and fluctuations in appetite and body weight. Finally, the attendees expressed their views and opinions on the subject.
