Biography
Zirak Akram Jabar is an Assistant Lecturer and researcher in the Translation Department at the College of Languages, Nawroz University, specializing in linguistics, translation, and English language education. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and a Master's degree in Linguistics, both from the University of Duhok. With more than 14 years of experience in teaching and administration in schools and institutes, and over four years of experience at the university level, Mr. Zirak brings a broad and grounded perspective to language education. He has served as the Secretary of the Translation Department and currently serves as lecturer and the focal point for Nawroz University. His teaching portfolio includes Principles of Translation, Translation from English into Kurdish and from Kurdish into English, English Grammar, Linguistics, and Literary Translation, reflecting a commitment to both theoretical rigor and practical application. His research interests include Applied Linguistics, Comparative Studies, Semantics, Pragmatics, and English Language Teaching (ELT). He has published peer-reviewed research in international and local journals on topics such as classroom dynamics in EFL settings, language avoidance strategies, and cross-cultural animal symbolism in Kurdish and English proverbs. Beyond the classroom, he actively contributes to the academic community by organizing symposiums and workshops, serving as a jury member in academic competitions, and engaging in collaborative research.

- • Participated in a Workshop on Improving Educational Programs in the Colleges of Education and Basic Education in the Kurdistan Region in 2026
- • Worked as Organizer and Moderator in International Symposium entitled "English Language Education and Its Role in Shaping Cultural and National Identity.
- • Participated as a Jury Member in the Stirling Schools Talks Competition, which involved all schools across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, representing Nawroz University.
