Biography
Dr. Mohammed Saifadeen Mahmood is a PhD holder and Visiting Academic at Nawroz University, specializing in translation and simultaneous interpreting. His expertise includes interpreting strategies, interpreter performance, professional challenges, and the development of effective interpreting practices. His doctoral research focused on strategies employed by Iraqi simultaneous interpreters before, during, and after interpreting assignments. His research interests include interpreter preparation, cognitive and emotional challenges, professional ethics, and interpreter professional development. Dr. Mahmood has extensive experience as a professional simultaneous interpreter in Iraq, working in NGO, political, institutional, and international settings. He has interpreted for senior Iraqi and Kurdistan Region officials, as well as international political figures and European politicians. He has also taught simultaneous interpreting at several Iraqi universities. Through his teaching, research, and professional interpreting experience, Dr. Mahmood contributes to translator and interpreter education and to the development of interpreting research and practice in Iraq.
