Nawroz University – College of Languages – Department of Translation announces a scientific seminar presented by academic and Assistant Lecturer (Baravan Waheed Hassan), titled (The Intersect of Pragmatics and Rhetoric in Poetic Discourse). The event will take place on Sunday, 20th, Sept. 2026, at 10:30 AM in (Faqi Tayran) Hall.
This seminar attempts to clarify and explore the extent of the overlap between pragmatics and rhetoric in poetic discourse, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Both fields are built upon a single crucial foundation: meaning. The former focuses on the speaker's intentions and goals, while the latter focuses on the beauty of expression and its impact on the listener. These two principles are widely established within poetic discourse.
