As part of Nawroz University’s efforts to strengthen its presence in international legal and academic forums, the Legal Clinic at the College of Law and Political Science organized a specialized academic activity on 25 October 2026, focusing on international commercial arbitration. The activity was held in preparation for the College’s team to participate in the International Commercial Arbitration Competition, organized by the Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The activity was attended by Mr. Mohammed Mahdi, an international arbitration trainer and arbitrator and Ambassador of the Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration. It was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Dilshad Abdulrahman Yousif, Dean of the College of Law and Political Science, with the participation of Mr. Fawaz Saeed Fizi, Director of the Legal Clinic. The session addressed the importance of developing students’ legal and practical skills and enhancing their knowledge of commercial arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
As part of the preparations for this international participation, Mr. Fawaz Saeed Fizi was assigned to supervise and train the College of Law’s team. He will develop a comprehensive training programme aimed at enhancing students’ abilities in legal research and analysis, legal memorandum drafting, and advocacy and arbitration skills. The programme will be designed in accordance with internationally recognized rules and procedures, contributing to the team’s readiness for effective participation in international legal competitions.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Nawroz University’s Presidency and the Deanship of the College of Law and Political Science to advancing legal education and strengthening its practical dimensions. This will be achieved by engaging with international legal institutions and centres and providing students with opportunities to gain practical experience and learn from international legal practices.
Furthermore, this participation demonstrates the College of Law and Political Science at Nawroz University’s commitment to promoting a culture of commercial arbitration within the university environment, strengthening students’ academic and professional capabilities, and preparing young legal professionals who can keep pace with the rapid developments in law and arbitration. These efforts will further enhance the University’s presence in regional and international academic and legal forums.
