On Tuesday, 23.6.2026, the Department of English at the College of Languages, Nawroz University, organized a seminar entitled:
“Japanglish: A Linguistic and Cultural Blend of Japanese and English”
The seminar was delivered by assistant lecturer Suzan Hani Shukri in the presence of a number of academics and lecturers.
The seminar explored the phenomenon of Japanglish and how English words have been adapted into Japanese through various linguistic processes. It also examined the cultural influence of English on Japanese society, particularly in advertising, media, fashion, and popular culture.
At the end of the seminar, participants engaged in a discussion and exchanged ideas and questions related to language borrowing, cultural exchange, and the role of English in contemporary Japanese society.
