Determinants of Youth Unemployment in Urban Duhok: A Logistic Regression Analysis of Duhok’s Labor Market

Today, on (10-2-2026), faculty member (Lect. Dilgash Ahmed Mohammed) from Nawroz University, Department of Economics in the College of Administration and Economics, presented a scientific seminar titled ("Determinants of Youth Unemployment in Urban Duhok: A Logistic Regression Analysis of Duhok’s Labor Market."). The research has been published in the Ascarya Journal of Islamic Science Culture and Social Studies. It is worth Mentioning that the study provides empirical support for Human Capital Theory, as higher education significantly reduces youth unemployment. However, the gender-based differences also supports Segmented Labor Market Theory. The research findings can be particularly applied to designing employment programs targeting youth most vulnerable to unemployment in Duhok. It also helps universities, government, and the private sector to connect education with the labor market through practical training career guidance, and entrepreneurship support.
