Biography

Professor Ameen Abdulqader Omar is a distinguished academic specializing in Kurdish Literature, with extensive experience in higher education, research, academic leadership, and professional training. His core expertise lies in Kurdish literary criticism and Kurdish fiction, with research interests focusing on Kurdish narrative literature and Kurdish studies. He has authored several books and numerous peer-reviewed articles published in national and international scholarly journals. Professor Ameen’s scholarly contributions have led to international collaborations and specialized training at prestigious institutions, including the University of Cambridge (UK), UTAD University (Portugal), the University of Pavia (Italy), HAMK University (Finland), and several universities in China. His administrative leadership is highlighted by his six-year tenure as the Director of the Center of Languages and his current role as the Director of the Nawroz University Center for Pedagogical Training and Academic Development. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Middle East Journal of Social Sciences. Throughout his career, he has taught at the University of Duhok, the University of Zakho, Duhok Polytechnic University, Nawroz University, and Akre University for Applied Sciences. He delivers courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subjects such as Kurdish Classical and Modern Literature, Kurdish Fiction, English Literature, Literary Translation, Research Methodology, and 21st-century Pedagogy. Fluent in Kurdish, English, and Arabic, Professor Ameen actively promotes Kurdish scholarship and literature within global academic networks.

  • Served as a member on several academic committees at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  • Active participation in voluntary activities, including conducting a large number of media and press interviews with local and satellite TV channels, as well as regional radio stations, which is ongoing. Examples include (K24, Rûdaw, WAAR, Duhok TV, AVA).
  • Translator for the Kurdish Human Rights Localization Project with the United for Human Rights organization.
  • Translated the "Educational Guidance Manual" book in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and UNICEF.
