Biography

Mateen Barwari is an assistant lecturer in civil and geotechnical engineering based in Duhok, Iraq, who has taught at the University of Nawroz. He holds advanced training in civil/geotechnical engineering and focuses on soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and urban geotechnical assessment. His expertise also includes GIS-based soil suitability analysis and engineering data analysis using tools such as Excel and Matlab, which he applies to support infrastructure and urban development projects.

He has participated in international conferences, including REALCORP 2026 in Vienna, contributing to discussions on urban planning and infrastructure. His teaching portfolio covers soil mechanics, foundation engineering, AutoCAD for both Civil and Architectural Engineering Departments, highway engineering for civil engineering students, and steel structures for architectural students.

Through this combination of teaching, research, and conference engagement, he contributes to the academic community by developing practice-oriented course materials, supervising student projects, and promoting evidence-based planning and design in the built environment.
