Biography

Professor Salim T. Yousif is the Head of the Civil Engineering Department at Nawroz University. He holds a B.Sc., an M.Sc., and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Mosul, achieving the rank of Full Professor. Throughout his extensive career, he has held key academic positions at the University of Mosul, Isra University in Jordan, and Al-Qalam University.

His core expertise encompasses structural analysis and the integration of artificial intelligence, specifically Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms, into civil engineering. In his teaching, he prioritizes a deep theoretical understanding of structural mechanics before introducing students to computational software such as STAAD-Pro and MATLAB. His ongoing research investigates sustainable construction materials, including geopolymer and high-strength concrete.

A highly impactful scholar, Professor Yousif has garnered over 1,750 citations on Google Scholar and published more than 64 scientific papers. He contributes significantly to the academic community by supervising numerous postgraduate students and authoring four engineering books, including "Optimum Structural Cost". He is currently developing his fifth textbook, "DE for Civil Engineers," while also bridging theory and practice as a senior engineering consultant for regional heritage restoration projects.

Professor Salim is open to accepting applications for supervision.
